It is very dry in the forest and fields and on Sunday the emergency services were alerted to grass fires in several places in Skåne. Right now, it is only in the southern parts of Skåne that there is no fire ban.
The Laine family was aware that there was a fire ban in Höör municipality and chose a fixed fire place for grilling.
– We went around and searched a bit until we found that this place was vacant, says Mattias Laine.
Make sure to be able to extinguish
It is allowed to grill in prepared barbecue areas, even when there is a fire ban.
"But you should always be careful and make sure you can extinguish the fire if a fire starts. If it blows, a spark can catch fire further away," says Petra Geistrand.
Concern about large forest fire
Even if it does not look dry, the risk of fire can be great. Petra Geistrand recommends anyone planning to start a fire in the forest and countryside to download MSB's app "Brandrisk ute".
"There you can see if there is a fire risk or not and usually also if there is a fire ban. Otherwise, you can check the municipality's website," she says.
The emergency services are preparing for the possibility of a dry summer with a high risk of fires.
"There's a lot of forest here in central Skåne, so a big forest fire is the big concern," says Petra Geistrand.
