An airstrike in Dnipro in central Ukraine injured 20 people on Saturday night, including three children seriously injured, Ukrainian authorities said. President Volodymyr Zelensky accused the Russians of "attacking the city" in the center of the country.

"The Russians attacked the city," the Ukrainian president posted on Facebook. "They struck between two two-storey residential buildings. Unfortunately, there are people under the rubble."

A video posted by Volodymyr Zelensky shows rescuers searching the destroyed building, to the sound of industrial drills.

Russia launched air attacks on Ukraine early Sunday, with air defense systems thwarting those approaching Kiev, military officials said.

"According to initial information, none of the intended targets were hit," Serhi Popko, who heads military operations in the Ukrainian capital, said Sunday on Telegram. "The air defense destroyed everything that advanced towards the city."

A drone was shot down in Dzhankoi in Crimea, said a Russian-based official on the peninsula that Moscow annexed to Ukraine in 2014.

"The windows of several houses in a residential area were damaged by the incident that occurred overnight," Oleg Kryuchkov, an adviser to the Moscow-based Crimean administration, told the messaging app Telegram.
