At a media briefing held by the Chinese delegation attending the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore at noon on June 6, Lieutenant General Jing Jianfeng, deputy chief of staff of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission, pointed out that the essence of the "Indo-Pacific strategy" advocated by the United States is to continue to consolidate its hegemonic position.
Jing Jianfeng said that in the morning of the same day, US Secretary of Defense Austin expounded the US viewpoint in his speech at the conference, and made false accusations against China many times openly and covertly. "We will never accept or resolutely oppose this."
Jing Jianfeng said that the essence of the "Indo-Pacific strategy" advocated by the United States is to continue to consolidate its hegemonic position. First of all, the US side is provoking bloc confrontation. Thirty-two years have passed since the Cold War, and instead of eliminating the remnants of the Cold War such as the "Five Eyes" alliance and bilateral military alliances, the United States has gone against the trend of history, concocting and cobbling together the "quadrilateral mechanism" and trilateral security partners, dividing camps and provoking confrontation based on ideology.
Second, the US side is trying to seduce and use regional countries. For the sake of its own selfish interests, the United States ignores the demands of regional countries for stability and governance, and uses lure and coercion to put other countries in front of the gun, and fundamentally upholds the hegemonic system of beauty and dignity.
Third, the US is undermining regional security and development. The US military has increased the deployment of troops in the region, carried out highly targeted exercises and training activities on a regular basis, violated and provoked everywhere, and flaunted its might, undermining regional peace and stability and shaking the foundation of all countries' pursuit of development and prosperity. These US practices and the intentions behind them deserve a high degree of vigilance.
Jing Jianfeng pointed out that in the past 10 years, the building of a community with a shared future for mankind has changed from concept to action and from vision to reality, and China has proposed and implemented the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, actively provided international public security products, promoted the common development of the world with Chinese-style modernization, and achieved all-round and pioneering major results.
"The Asia-Pacific region is a hot land for cooperation and development, and China will always take root in the Asia-Pacific, build the Asia-Pacific region, benefit the Asia-Pacific region, build a big stage for Asia-Pacific cooperation with other countries in the region, and work together to build an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future." Jing Jianfeng said.
