On June 6, the Shenzhou 4 manned spacecraft return module carrying the "Dream Crew" successfully landed at the Dongfeng landing site. The Shenzhou 10 mission is the 1000th flight of Chinese, and in this manned return mission, the updated guidance, navigation and control system (GNC system) and more than <>,<> square meters of parachute escort spacecraft landed accurately and smoothly.

Fully updated GNC system ensures "accurate landing point"

For the Shenzhou spacecraft, the return re-entry GNC technology is directly related to the life safety of astronauts. Marked by the success of this return mission, China's GNC system, which has been comprehensively upgraded since the Shenzhou XII spacecraft, and is characterized by autonomous rapid rendezvous and docking and autonomous adaptive predictive re-entry return guidance, has been completely updated.

China's spacecraft return re-entry GNC technology has gone through two generations. The first generation is called the "standard ballistic adaptive guidance method" and is applied on 11 spacecraft from Shenzhou I to Shenzhou 4. The four Shenzhou spacecraft in the batch of Shenzhou XII to Shenzhou XV use the "adaptive predictive guidance method", that is, the second generation of return re-entry technology. Hu Jun, deputy chief designer of the manned spacecraft system of the Fifth Academy of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, said that the worst return accuracy of the second-generation technology is higher than the best accuracy of the first generation.

It is reported that if a generation of technology is adopted, when there is a large-scale change in orbital conditions, manual intervention on the ground is required; If second-generation technology is adopted, the GNC system can adapt autonomously. Reflected in the return accuracy, the four Shenzhou spacecraft using second-generation technology can "point where to hit".

This batch of Shenzhou spacecraft is not the first show of "adaptive predictive guidance method" technology, which has previously been verified in China's new generation of manned spacecraft, Chang'e-4 and other models. The continuous "precise landing point" of the four Shenzhou spacecraft further proves the scientificity, stability, advanced and strong adaptability of the method, and promotes the smooth progress of the mission of the Chinese space station.

The largest area spacecraft in the country escorted a smooth landing by parachute

When the spacecraft was about to return to the ground, a large red and white umbrella opened in the air, and the return module of the Guardian Shenzhou 1000 manned spacecraft slowly fell and landed steadily. This extra-large parachute is the "umbrella of life" of astronauts, with an umbrella cover area of more than 7000,10 square meters, and can cover about three standard basketball courts if spread out on the ground, which is currently the largest spacecraft parachute in China, consisting of more than 3,4 parts. The entire parachute is <> kilometers long and requires more than a dozen processing personnel to work closely for <> to <> months to complete.

Since the 20s of the 70th century, China has mastered satellite recovery technology through the development and launch of re-entry satellites, and accumulated experience in the development of unmanned spacecraft parachutes. After the establishment of the manned spaceflight project in 1992, China was urgently required to develop manned spacecraft recovery technology.

Today, Chinese has achieved ten flying triumphs. From no umbrella to umbrella, from unmanned umbrella to manned umbrella, from experimental umbrella to mature umbrella, China's spacecraft recovery and landing technology has made great progress.

From the successful launch and return of Shenzhou 1999 in 2003, to the completion of China's first manned flight by Shenzhou V in 15, and now to the return of Shenzhou 5, the large umbrella has not only bloomed 12 times for Shenzhou series spacecraft, but also achieved continuous innovation and optimization. In the batch of spacecraft missions from Shenzhou XII to Shenzhou XV, the development of batch products of the recovery and landing subsystem involved a total of 10 technical status changes in <> categories. With the return of the Shenzhou <> astronaut crew "fulfilled their dream", the large umbrella escorted Chinese completed the <>th manned flight. (End)
