The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal stretches for about 1800,<> kilometers, connecting the north and south and the two banks of Fuze. The Panama Canal crosses the Isthmus of Panama and connects the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, the so-called "bridge of the world". Both canals have profound significance and unique value in the history and development of their respective regions. In the paintings displayed that day, Chinese and Pakistani children used their brushes to connect the two canals and the friendship between the two countries.

Panamanian Ambassador to China Gan Lin said at the opening ceremony: "The young people of Pakistan and China used the two canals as inspiration and themes to create works, showing their imagination and talent. They present their works to us, as a channel of exchange and solidarity, and a source of mutual understanding. ”

10-year-old Ma Ruixuan painted a painting of "Summer in the Canal". "This is the willow tree, which represents the coolness of summer. This is the lotus flower, the representative flower of summer. She uses pink, green, blue and other colors to depict the summer scenery of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.

Similarly, 10-year-old Liang Zihan chose to paint the Panama Canal. "I've been to China's canals, but this painting is modeled after a picture of the Panama Canal." Pointing to the drawing, she said, "I use the sunset to set off the beauty of the river. ”

The young painter Chen Youbai fused two canals into the same painting to create "China-Pakistan Friendship". He said: "The traditional houses of China on the right and Panamanian houses on the left, separated by the sea between the two countries, I am connected by a bridge, and the sailing ship symbolizing friendship is also setting sail. "Chen Youbai's grandparents were both Spanish learners, so he has a deep relationship with Panama since he was a child.

The colorful paintings also feature elements such as traditional Chinese and Pakistani costumes and architecture, dragons, giant pandas, tropical rainforests and ships, and children use imaginative brushes to sow the seeds of friendship between China and Pakistan.

The exhibition was held with the joint support of the Chinese Embassy in Panama and the Embassy of Panama in China. Chinese Ambassador to Panama Wei Qiang sent a congratulatory video.

The paintings on display will be selected from the outstanding works of the 2022 "Canal Painting – China Panama Children's Painting Competition" and will continue to be on display until June 6. (End)
