Around a table in the rest hall at Hjalmar Lundbohmsskolan, Ellen Larsson, Maja Blomqvist, Rozeline Buimer, Stina Frånberg and Elisa Törn talk about the summer plans.

They have all found jobs this summer, except Elisa Törn who has saved money to be able to take time off.

"Didn't know about it"

None of them had heard of Kiruna municipality looking for young people to care for care. Young people without previous experience or education in care are also welcome to apply.

It is not about holiday jobs, but about jobs with contractual wages.

"I wasn't aware of it. It might have been interesting to test, but maybe not right now," says Stina Frånberg.

"Have other plans for the future"

When it comes to the idea of working in elderly care, opinions differ.

"Certainly good for some, but I have other plans for the future," says Ellen Larsson, supported by Rozaline Buimer.

"I've thought about working in elderly care, but it hasn't happened. But at some point for sure, says Maja Blomqvist.

Adrian Engroos will work as an electrician this summer and would not have chosen elderly care, even if he had known about the offer.

In the video, he explains why – and you also hear the other high school students justify their answers.
