Ukraine: a new Russian missile strike kills several people in Kiev

It was around 3 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, when the anti-aircraft siren sounded all over Kiev and it took no more than five minutes for the first explosions to be heard and "in a very loud way".

For the now informed ears of Kieviens, there was no doubt: the city was under attack by ballistic missiles, much faster than cruise missiles, which have a less predictable trajectory, reports our correspondent in Kiev, Stéphane Siohan.

The use of ballistic missiles

Tonight, it is not known what the targets of the Russian Air Force were, but what is certain is that missiles fell in the dormitory districts of Desniansky and Dniprovsky, causing several casualties.

According to Kiev's military administration, citing preliminary reports, the weapons used in Thursday's attack were cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. The Russians have used drones, but this is the second time this month they have attacked Kiev with ballistic missiles. The first time was on Monday, May 29, in broad daylight. It has since been learned that the Russians targeted the headquarters of the GUR, the Ukrainian military intelligence, but that the missile intended for the building fell into the Dnieper.
