The appointment with the Book Fair is one of those that year after year appear fixed in the agenda of Queen Letizia. The wife of Felipe VI usually inaugurates the cultural event every year, where she makes a tour designed between the Fair team and herself, which she takes advantage of to visit booths of publishers or bookstores that she likes. However, because this edition the inauguration of the Fair coincided with the last day of the campaign of the municipal elections, Doña Letizia could not inaugurate it.

Queen Letizia denounces the shortage of psychologists and psychiatrists in Spain: "The figures are stubborn"

But the Queen has not missed her appointment with the books. Last Wednesday, taking advantage of her clear agenda and that the rain gave a respite to the Paseo de Coches of the Retiro Park, Doña Letizia approached, as one more citizen, to the Fair. She spent about half an hour between the booths accompanied by a small and discreet security team. Some people noticed the presence of Doña Letizia, to whom they asked for selfies; however, others did not even realize that they had the Queen of Spain by their side.

This year, the wife of Felipe VI has made a varied tour of the Fair, but with a clear idea of what she wanted to buy and take from this appointment. Dressed comfortably and informally, with black dancers, jeans and striped shirt, the Queen visited the booths of Altamarea, Acantilado, Machado, Siruela and Sílex. In the latter, Doña Letizia became interested in the collection of Queens Consort, a book that reviews the wives of kings who populated the medieval courts as well as a book on total Kubrick by Sergio Peral.

GTRES

The wife of Felipe VI, however, acquired other copies in other booths. Thus, Doña Letizia bought El paseo, by Robert Walser, the short autobiography of this author in which he talks about his life experience in just 79 pages. He also boughtThe Use of the Photo, by Annie Ernaux, edited by Cabaret Voltaire.

Without forgetting her journalistic vocation, the Queen bought The City of God, by Pier Paolo Pasolini, in which articles and stories by the author are collected. Also in this genre, Doña Letizia acquired Letters to Hawthorne, in whichHerman Meville compiles the missives sent to his children during their trip through Tierra del Fuego. Finally, he took the Literary Essays of the American H.P. Lovecraft.
