A woman was admitted to the Donostia Hospital on Thursday with symptoms compatible with Ebola.

As confirmed to EFE sources of the Basque Department of Health, Osakidetza has activated the protocol established to care for those infected by this disease, when the woman presents a picture of symptoms compatible with Ebola and has recently returned from a trip to the Central African Republic.

The Ministry chaired by Gotzone Sagardui has released a note announcing that the Basque Health Service has activated the protocol that launches the special resources of "high security and isolation" in the event of "the suspicion of a case of hemorrhagic fever".

It specifies that the device has been implemented by health professionals "in less than 24 hours" to "offer the best care" to the sick person and at the same time "guarantee their isolation" and their "safety" and that of the team that attends them.

The woman is "stable" and is admitted to the High Biological Security Unit of the Donostia University Hospital, which Osakidetza has for patients with serious infectious diseases.

The person presumed infected is "awaiting the results" of tests that can confirm whether or not the infection is Ebola.

The Donostia Hospital, in San Sebastian, is one of the seven Spanish hospitals that have a unit with special high security and isolation resources for the treatment of this disease and has activated the protocol upon the arrival of the patient at the hospital during the early hours of this Thursday.
