"There were no violations of the state border": the Russian Armed Forces thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian terrorists to invade the Belgorod region

On the morning of June 1, the Russian armed forces, together with units of the border service and other units of the FSB of Russia, thwarted an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist act against the civilian population of the city of Shebekino, Belgorod region. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"At about three o'clock in the morning, after intensive shelling of civilian targets in the Belgorod region, Ukrainian terrorist formations with forces of up to two motorized infantry companies, reinforced with tanks, attempted to invade the territory of the Russian Federation in the area of the settlement of Novaya Tavolzhanka and the Shebekino international automobile checkpoint," the report said.

It is noted that Russian servicemen selflessly repelled three attacks by Ukrainian terrorist groups. Thus, the aviation of the Western Military District inflicted 11 strikes on the enemy, the crews of heavy flamethrower systems - two strikes, missile troops and artillery completed 77 fire missions.

"As a result of the active actions of the units covering the state border of the Western Military District and the FSB of Russia, the terrorist formations of the Kiev regime, having suffered significant losses, were thrown back. There were no violations of the state border," Konashenkov added.

According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, more than 30 Ukrainian terrorists, four armored combat vehicles, a Grad multiple launch rocket system, and one pickup truck were destroyed in the border area from Ukraine.

Earlier, the headquarters of the Belgorod region called false and untrue information about the breakthrough of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the direction of the city of Shebekino. At the same time, it was emphasized that the situation in the Shebekinsky urban district is difficult.

"Residents of the Belgorod region receive calls from the territorial defense with requests to leave the region - these are fake calls. The territorial self-defense operating in the Belgorod region does not call the population. The calls are made by the enemy with one goal: to cause panic among Belgorod residents, "the message says.

The governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, also noted that the enemy forces could not get into the territory of the Belgorod region. Instead, they conducted a massive shelling of Shebekin and the surrounding areas. As a result, eight people were injured.

Residents of the city of Shebekino, Belgorod region, told RT about heavy night shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"It was a nightmare at night – they shot hard. Thank God, we have already left Shebekino, but my father cannot leave the city yet," said one of the residents.

Another resident of the city confirmed that there was heavy shelling during the night.

"It became a little calmer during the day, but there were still arrivals. Now our family has decided to leave Shebekin," said a local resident.

According to Dmitry Peskov, the President of Russia constantly receives reports on the situation in the city of Shebekino, Belgorod region. "Vladimir Putin, in connection with the situation around Shebekin, constantly receives reports from the Ministry of Defense, the border service, the FSB, the Ministry of Emergency Situations," TASS quoted him as saying.

Meanwhile, the authorities of Belgorod have deployed six temporary accommodation centers (TACs) for residents of the Shebekinsky district. According to Mayor Valentin Demidov, the city has already received 517 residents of the Shebekinsky district, 87 of them are children.

"The city's largest TAC is gradually being filled, so all arriving Shebekin residents are sent in an organized manner to free TACs, where they are registered and provided with everything they need. For those residents who have independently accommodated with relatives and acquaintances, registration with the TAC today is not required. You will be able to do this during the day. Right now, it is not necessary to do this, "said the governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov.
