A graffiti on the home of Federal Justice Minister Marco Buschmann (FDP) has become a case for state security. Unknown persons have smeared the property in Gelsenkirchen. The incident had already occurred on May 19, police said on Wednesday. Previously, the »world« had reported on the act. According to information from his ministry, Buschmann had appointments in Berlin that day.

Residents had called the police "after they had noticed a graffiti smearing and a slight damage to the front door," police said. Since the Federal Minister of Justice is also registered at this address, the state security of the Gelsenkirchen police began the investigation on the same day." A ministry spokesman said in Berlin that Buschmann had "immediately filed a criminal complaint" after the incident.

There are no indications of suspects so far, said a police spokesman. But check an entry in the web portal "Indymedia". On the page classified by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution as a "secure left-wing extremist endeavor", the act was justified by the fact that Buschmann had "transphobic influence" on the draft of the Self-Determination Act.

In the future, transgender, intersex and non-binary people will have the opportunity to have their gender entry in the civil status register and their first names changed by means of a declaration at the registry office. The submission of a medical certificate or the obtaining of expert opinions in court proceedings should no longer be necessary for this, according to the draft, which Buschmann has submitted together with Family Minister Lisa Paus (Greens).
