In this period of economic and geopolitical tensions, gold has established itself as the safe haven for individuals. At 1,816 euros per ounce, the gold bar is around 60,000 euros. As a result, some French people do not hesitate to sell their old jewelry. But is there really something for every budget?

The price of gold continues to soar. It was necessary to count 1,816 euros for 31 grams of yellow metal - one ounce - a few days ago. In this context, many individuals do not hesitate to sell their old jewelry. But this historic price does not deter those who want to buy. Can you get gold without having big means? Europe 1 went to a counter on rue Vivienne in Paris.

Gold reassures

A Napoleon of 20 GOLD francs... With a value of 365 euros to buy, it is the star of small budgets like Pierre's. "It's just to secure the money. I am a civil servant, I earn 2,000 euros per month," he told Europe 1. And even though gold is at an all-time high, that hasn't deterred this regular buyer. "I buy often so tomorrow it may be low, the day after tomorrow maybe higher," he says.

"For 75 euros you can already start investing in gold"

Gold adapts to all stock exchanges and this makes it popular in times of crisis as explained by David Knoblauch, numismatist expert at Godot et fils. "We have ingots that start from one gram. So for 75 euros you can already start investing in gold. We have many more customers who come to buy gold. People who have a lot of means, it is true. But we also have people who will buy 500 or 1,000 euros in gold," he explains.

But gold has a resale cost: the agency's commission and 11% systematic tax if you do not have the purchase invoice.
