Being involved in everything creates stress and sometimes the students try more to live up to other people's expectations instead of looking at what they themselves want, then the curators can help.

"I have helped students buy a used student cap because it can otherwise be a big cost," says Johanna Fyhr Karlsson, school counsellor.

The counsellors give tips on making up a budget and also help to prioritize which events the student wants to go to. It is not uncommon for each party evening to cost up to five hundred kronor.

Must ask parents for help

The student is expensive for the students even though they have worked extra and have saved money. At the same time, they are reluctant to skimp on the big day.

"I buy my clothes, but my parents are responsible for the student slice and if they have chosen cheaper catering," says Amel Topic, who is in the social science programme and is also a member of the municipal technology and leisure committee for the Christian Democrats.
