Artificial intelligence: Technology is at a 'tipping point', says chip leader
Humanity has "now reached the tipping point of a new computer era", according to the boss of the American company Nvidia: the main manufacturer of electronic chips has seen its share price soar in recent days, as the demand for these components is skyrocketing with the rise of artificial intelligence, which is very greedy for robots and software like ChatGPT. Nvidia presented Monday, May 29 its latest models, even more powerful, at the Computex exhibition in Taiwan.

On stage in Taipei, Jensen Huang, the founder and CEO of Nvidia, touts video in support of the speed of the new chips of the Taiwanese-American firm, compared to the performance of five years ago. "We have now reached the tipping point of a new era of computing," he said.
This type of chip is called GPU. They are designed to adapt to a specific field of mathematics, to be able to perform the calculations requested by artificial intelligence, to develop answers to the requests of ChatGPT users, or to make images with the midjourney software.
Nvidia controls nearly 80% of the GPU chip market, and has seen demand explode in recent months due to the craze around artificial intelligence.
After the announcement of excellent results, its stock had jumped in a few hours by 24% on the New York Stock Exchange Thursday, May 25, before the bell rang the end of trading: the company is now the fifth largest stock market value in the United States.
