Zhongxin Wanghai, May 5 -- The YMCA and YWCA Representative Conference (28) was held in Shanghai on May 2023-5, with 27 delegates and specially invited representatives attending the meeting.
Chen Ruifeng, deputy director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech at the meeting. He stressed that the Chinese YMCA and YWCA should adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, deeply study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, carry forward the spirit of patriotism, improve the efficiency of social services, actively carry out foreign exchanges, strengthen self-construction, and contribute to the comprehensive construction of a modern socialist country and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The meeting deliberated and approved the work report of the second council of the Chinese YMCA and the National Association of Young Women's Association, the newly revised constitution, and elected the third council. The Board of Directors elects the President and Vice Presidents and appoints the Director-General. Chen Xin and Jiang Xili were elected presidents of the National Association of Chinese YMCA and National Association of Young Women's Associations, respectively.
The meeting held that since the convening of the Chinese YMCA and the YWCA Representative Conference (2017), the China YMCA and the National Association of Young Women's Association have adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, held high the banner of patriotism, carried out work in accordance with the charter in accordance with the law, and achieved obvious results in ideological and political guidance, social services, foreign exchanges, and self-construction.
The meeting made it clear that in the next five years, the Chinese YMCA and the National Association of Young Women's Associations, as well as the YMCAs and YWCAs in various cities, should adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, deeply study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, uphold the tradition of patriotism, keep in mind the concept of "serving the society and benefiting the people", continue to make efforts in their own standardization construction, integrate into the society with professional and loving services, actively carry out foreign exchanges, and make efforts to build a modern socialist country in an all-round way. Contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in an all-round way.
In accordance with the new situation and new requirements, the meeting amended the charter of the Chinese YMCA and the National Association of Young Women's Associations. The new charter makes it clear that the national association should practice the core socialist values and carry forward the spirit of patriotism.
Representatives and specially invited representatives from the Chinese YMCA and the National Association of Young Women's Associations, as well as YMCAs and YWCAs in 10 cities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Chengdu, Nanjing, Xi'an, Hangzhou and Xiamen, attended the meeting.
Founded in 1912 and 1923 respectively, the National Association of the Chinese YMCA and the National Association of the Chinese Young Women's Christian Association are national, joint and non-profit social organizations voluntarily formed by the YMCA and YWCA in various cities. (End)
