The first voters were able to cast their ballots and choose between Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Kemal Kiliçdaroglu. In the first round the outgoing president won 49.5% of the vote in the first round against 45% for Kiliçdaroglu. The postponement of the votes of the nationalist candidate Sinan Oğan, who came third with 5% of the vote, will weigh heavily in the balance during this second round.
