Beijing, 5 May (ZXS) -- On the afternoon of 26 May, Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks at the Great Hall of the People with Congolese President Tshisekedi who is on a state visit to China. The two heads of state announced that the strategic partnership of win-win cooperation between the two countries will be upgraded to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
Xi Jinping pointed out that China and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have established a deep traditional friendship in the historical process of fighting for national liberation movements and opposing colonial aggression, and are strategic partners with a wide common language and walking side by side. In recent years, the cooperation between the two sides in various fields has yielded fruitful results, and China has become the largest trading partner and the largest source of foreign investment in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for many consecutive years, and the two sides have formed a close community of interests and a community of common destiny. The successful experience of Chinese-style modernization shows that developing countries have the right and ability to explore a modernization path that suits their national conditions. China is willing to strengthen the docking of development strategies with the Democratic Republic of the Congo and support each other, seek common cooperation, promote development and common progress on the road of development and revitalization. Xi Jinping pointed out that China is willing to help the economic and social development of the Democratic Republic of the Congo as always, support the industrialization strategy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, strengthen cooperation in energy, minerals, agriculture, infrastructure, manufacturing and other fields, tap the potential of cooperation in the fields of digital economy, education and health, and is willing to send an agricultural technical expert group to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is hoped that the Democratic Republic of the Congo will provide policy support and service facilitation for Chinese enterprises to invest in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and create a fair, just and safe business environment. China is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Democratic Republic of the Congo in multilateral affairs, jointly practice true multilateralism, and safeguard international fairness and justice.
Xi Jinping stressed that China is the largest developing country in the world, Africa is the continent with the largest concentration of developing countries, and China and Africa have always been a community of common destiny. Under the current international situation, China and Africa need to strengthen solidarity and cooperation more than ever. The two sides should persistently carry forward the basic norms governing international relations, oppose all forms of hegemonism and power politics, oppose interference in the internal affairs of other countries, and safeguard the common interests of developing countries. China firmly supports Africa in taking an independent development path and becoming an important pole of world politics, economy and civilization, and is willing to provide new opportunities for African countries with its own new development, work with African brothers to implement the outcomes of the Dakar Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, promote the joint construction of the "Belt and Road", support Africa to achieve sustainable development, and work together to build a China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.
Tshisekedi said: On behalf of the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, I once again warmly congratulate the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the National Two Sessions of China, once again warmly congratulate President Xi Jinping on his re-election as General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President of China, warmly congratulate China on its tremendous development achievements in the new era under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, and believe that China will achieve the second centenary goal. Over the past half century, the friendly cooperation between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and China has withstood the test of time and achieved rich results, which should be cherished by both sides, and thank China for its long-term important assistance and valuable support for the economic and social development of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Congolese side firmly pursues the one-China policy and firmly supports China's efforts to achieve national reunification. After the talks, the two heads of state witnessed the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation documents in the fields of investment, green economy and digital economy.
The two sides issued the Joint Statement of the People's Republic of China and the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the Establishment of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Partnership.
Before the talks, Xi Jinping held a welcoming ceremony for Tshisekedi in the square outside the east gate of the Great Hall of the People.
When Tshisekedi arrived, the salute soldiers lined up to salute. The heads of state of the two countries ascended the parade stage, the military orchestra played the national anthems of China and the Congo, and a 21-gun salute was fired in Tiananmen Square. Tshisekedi, accompanied by Xi Jinping, inspects the honor guard of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and watches the parade.
Xi Jinping's wife Peng Liyuan and Tshisekedi's wife Denise accompanied them to the welcoming ceremony. That evening, Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan held a welcome banquet for Tshisekedi and his wife Denise in the Golden Hall of the Great Hall of the People.
