"Russia is ready without delay, in a matter of days, to launch the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline, and Kiev has been slowing down this for almost a year, furnishing everything with new conditions," the statement said.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that Kiev, with the support of the United States, "is not in the penny interests of ensuring food security and fighting hunger in Africa."

Earlier, Russia's permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said that the supply of Russian ammonia fertilizers would make it possible to produce food for 200 million people.

On May 19, Reuters, citing a source in the Ukrainian government, reported that Ukraine would agree to continue the transit of ammonia from Russia only if the grain deal was expanded in the interests of Kiev.
