Macao, May 5 -- In order to promote the integrated development of young people in Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao and help build a first-class innovation and entrepreneurship highland for Hong Kong and Macao youth in China, the "26 Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Exchange Meeting" was held in Macao on May 2023.

The seminar was jointly organized by the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, the Macao Special Administrative Region Government and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. Nearly 150 people, including government leaders, business representatives, and young entrepreneurs from Hong Kong and Macao, attended the meeting, and nearly 2000,<> people participated online.

Zhan Decun, director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, said at the exchange meeting that in recent years, Guangzhou has introduced a series of supporting policies and measures to provide comprehensive support for Hong Kong and Macao young people to study, intern, exchange, employment, entrepreneurship and life in Guangzhou. It is hoped that young people from Hong Kong and Macao will take the initiative to embrace the development opportunities of the Greater Bay Area, give play to their strengths, and contribute their youth strength to the development of the country.

Secretary for Economic and Technological Development of the Macao SAR Government, Mr Tai Kin Yip, said in his speech that in recent years, the Macao SAR Government has promoted cooperation with 23 incubation centres in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, including the establishment of a mechanism to mutually recognize start-up incubation teams, and to provide free professional services such as accounting, taxation and legal consultation to young entrepreneurs in Macao. In the future, it will continue to improve various support policies and supporting measures to promote the moderate diversification of Macao's economy and promote the development of the Greater Bay Area and the Hengqin Co-operation Zone.

Commissioner for Home Affairs and Youth Affairs of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr Lau Ka-ki, said in his speech that young people are the future of the country and the engine for long-term social and economic development. The current HKSAR Government is determined to assist young people in solving the problems of the "four professions", namely difficulties encountered in study, employment, entrepreneurship and home ownership. To provide an enabling environment for young people to have hope for the future and realize their full potentials in society.

During the exchange meeting, a ceremony was also held to award the new honorary president of the Guangzhou Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation and Exchange Promotion Association. A number of outstanding personalities from Hong Kong and Macao have been appointed as the new honorary presidents, who will work together to build various forms of exchange and cooperation platforms for enterprises and institutions in Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao, and play an active role in the economic, social and cultural cooperation and development of Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao.
