The United Kingdom hosted this edition on behalf of Ukraine, winner last year but unable to organize the event because of the invasion of its territory by Russia.

The contest "has never been more popular," said Noel Curran, director of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which brings together the broadcasters of the event.

The audience figures broadcast by the organizers compile viewers from 38 countries where the event is broadcast.

In the United Kingdom, 9.9 million people watched the final, broadcast on Saturday 13 May, up 12% compared to 2022, an audience share of 63%.

In Sweden, the country of the winner Loreen with her song "Tattoo", 2.3 million people followed the final, for an audience share of 82.3%.

The contest is traditionally very popular in northern European countries.

In France, the final night was watched by 3.5 million viewers, up 10% from 2022.

But the competition was also very popular on the Internet, with 7.6 million viewers on YouTube, including 3.2 million for the semi-finals held on May 9 and 11.

4.8 million people also watched Eurovision on TikTok, where videos tagged #Eurovision garnered 4.8 billion views (between April 30 and May 15).

For the first time this year, people who do not live in one of the 37 countries participating in the contest could still take part in the vote to elect the winning title.

The organization recorded votes from more than 100 countries outside the contest, including the United States, Canada, Kosovo, Luxembourg and New Zealand.
