"I have decided to put an end to all collaboration with Radio France," the host of "L'Esprit public" told Le Monde, before confirming his departure to AFP.

Contacted by AFP, the management of Radio France did not wish to comment on this decision.

The Round House confirms on the other hand that "Patrick Cohen was part of the options considered" to succeed Marc Fauvelle, at the helm for nearly five years of the morning of France Info and who will become director of information of France Inter in September.

"This week, there were editorial decision meetings where the options" for the morning of France Info "were discussed," adds one at Radio France.

Described as a "great pro", Patrick Cohen has however "a profile very close to France Inter", the most listened to radio in France, which he hosted the morning for seven years before joining Europe 1 in 2017 and being replaced by the duo Nicolas Demorand / Léa Salamé.

The public group has therefore "decided to privilege a personality who will embody France Info in a more singular way" to "have a real complementarity of the morning offers of the public service for the French, an offer richer of its diversity," he says.

Marc Fauvelle's successor has not yet been appointed, adds Radio France, at a time when the traditional audiovisual transfer window is in full swing.

Recruited in 2017 to straighten out the audiences of the morning of Europe 1, Patrick Cohen was replaced after one season, failing to succeed. After hosting shows on weekends, he had found a daily appointment, "Europe Midi", in September 2020.

He ended up leaving Europe 1 in 2021, at the dawn of a merger of the Lagardère group's radio station with the conservative channel CNews wanted by their common shareholder, Vivendi.

Also columnist of "C à vous" on France 5, Patrick Cohen was then back at Radio France to take over the controls of "L'esprit public" on France Culture on Sunday late morning.
