The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has taken over the investigation of the alleged purchase of postal votes in Melilla. This has been agreed by the Attorney General of the State, Álvaro García Ortiz, in a decree in which he indicates that the police investigation has revealed "solid indications" of the existence "of a large-scale operation of buying votes" in the autonomous city.

It explains that "the criminal operation" began on April 4, when the BOE published the electoral call, "and would have been carried out, according to the investigations carried out, by several individuals related or related to the political party Coalition for Melilla."

It adds that these suspects "would form an organized structure, with prior and concerted planning, and the purchase of votes would also be financed with part of the funds obtained by companies and individuals related to the political party indicated in public tenders, agreements, contracts and subsidies that would have been awarded during the last legislature in the Autonomous City. "

The Prosecutor's Office considers that the facts could involve the commission of electoral crimes, in addition to document falsification, prevarication, embezzlement and bribery.
