Beijing, 5 May (Xinhua) -- On 24 May, President Xi Jinping was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the Second Eurasian Economic Forum of the Eurasian Economic Union by video link and delivered a speech.
Xi Jinping pointed out that the world today is undergoing major changes unprecedented in a century, and the historical trend of world multipolarization and economic globalization is unstoppable. Adhering to genuine multilateralism and promoting coordinated regional development is the broad consensus of the international community. Eurasia is the most populous, state-rich and most diverse region in the world. In the face of a turbulent and changing world, how should Asia-Europe cooperation go? This is not only related to the well-being of the people in the region, but also profoundly affects the development trend of the world.
Xi Jinping stressed that China's answer to such a question of the times and history is clear. I have successively put forward the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, calling on all countries to work together to build a world of lasting peace, universal security, common prosperity, openness, inclusiveness, cleanliness and beauty, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. This year marks the 10th anniversary of my proposal to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative. The fundamental starting point and foothold of this initiative is to explore new ways for common development of distant relatives and neighbors, and to open up a "happy road" that benefits all countries and the world.
Xi Jinping stressed that as a member of the Asia-Europe family, China's development is inseparable from and benefits the Asia-Europe region. China sincerely hopes that the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" and the construction of the Eurasian Economic Union will deepen the docking and cooperation, and all countries will unite and cooperate with one heart to create a new situation in Asia-Europe cooperation. In the second half of this year, China will host the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. China is willing to work with the Belt and Road co-founders and the Eurasian Economic Union member states to continue to hold high the banner of peace, development, cooperation and win-win results, share opportunities, overcome difficulties together, create a better future, and work together to write a new chapter of civilization and progress in a multipolar world.
The Second Eurasian Economic Forum of the Eurasian Economic Union was held in Moscow, Russia, on May 5 with the theme "Eurasian Integration in a Multipolar World".
