"Children and youth sports are very important activities, also for society at large," says Oscar Carlsson.

In J-Södra more than 400 children and young people play. When SVT visits the club's home ground at Jordbron in Jönköping, Josef Yusufzada and Elias Homaimes, both 14 years old, play ball on the field. They train in J-Södra's P14 team and say that the business means a lot to them.

"Football means everything. When I'm out on the pitch, it feels like everything else disappears. I love to play," says Elias Homaimes.

Multi-million dollar debt

Jönköpings Södra is currently in an economic crisis that the association describes as profound, serious and acute. The association's annual report for 2022 shows that the association has a negative equity of approximately SEK 5.5 million and that they have short- and long-term liabilities of approximately SEK 16 million.

But the club has a stated ambition that the children and young people who train should not be affected by the economic crisis. But creative measures may be required to cope with some costs. In the clip above you hear Oscar Carlsson give examples of this.
