He has done it again: Andreas Scheuer, ex-Federal Minister of Transport and CSU member of the Bundestag, has once again published a kind of fan boy tweet about Ron DeSantis, the controversial governor of Florida and possible presidential candidate of the US Republicans. And slowly one is annoyed by Scheuer in the CSU leadership.

According to SPIEGEL information, irritation is growing in the CSU presidium about the politician, who was also once general secretary under the then party leader Horst Seehofer. "Oh, always Andi," says the CSU leadership about Scheuer.

Most recently, he commented on the announcement by the arch-conservative DeSantis that he would run for his party's presidential candidacy with a jubilant tweet in English. In it, Scheuer wrote, among other things, that he had come to know DeSantis as a "purposeful, friendly and dynamic politician".

The ex-Minister of Transport had already caused displeasure in his own ranks at the beginning of May when he published a very empathetic tweet after a meeting with the Republican politician. Scheuer had previously visited DeSantis together with CSU defense expert Florian Hahn and digital politician Dorothee Bär in Miama.

As governor of Florida, DeSantis passed the so-called "Don't say gay" law, which prohibits conversations about sexual orientation and gender identity in his state's schools. The "stop-woke law" he initiated makes it dangerous for teachers in Florida to deal with racism and slavery in the classroom. DeSantis is also increasingly critical of the West's support for Ukraine in the war against Russia.
