China News Network, May 5 Comprehensive Russian media reports, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on the 23nd that Russia believes that Western military biological activities pose a threat to the national security of Russia and other countries.

According to the Russian Satellite News Agency, the statement released by the Russian Foreign Ministry stated: "We believe that such activities of Western countries, including in the post-Soviet space, are a real threat to the national security of Russia and other countries, mainly countries on whose territory (the West) conducts (military-biological) activities." ”

Ryabkov said the entire international community needs to pay close attention to the "uncontrolled and extremely dangerous" military biological activities of the United States and its allies.

According to TASS, Ryabkov added that the United States has built a large number of microbiology laboratories around the world and modernized existing ones "under the guise of providing health and epidemic prevention assistance." Local infectious disease strains obtained by the United States could harm the security interests of the "host country". This military-biological activity can lead to the leakage of pathogens that are harmful to health.

He said Russia's question about the U.S. military-biological program in Ukraine remains open and needs to be resolved, and Russia will continue to seek responses from both countries.

"U.S. military and biological activities around the world clearly demonstrate the urgency of strengthening the Biological Weapons Convention (BTWC)," he added. In view of this, relevant Russian initiatives remain necessary. ”

Ryabkov believes that if Western countries intend to strengthen the BWC regime, the best proof is not "empty statements made at the end of the G7 summit", but should take practical measures to stop the continuation of destructive military biological activities around the world.

Previously, Russia repeatedly exposed evidence of the United States' military biological experiments in Ukraine. In early September 2022, at the formal consultations of the States Parties to the Biological Weapons Convention in Geneva, the Russian delegation disclosed a series of documents accusing the United States of activities in violation of the Convention and expressing concern about US activities related to biological militarization, which were concerned by representatives of participating countries.

Documents previously released by the Russian Defense Department also show that the United States spent more than $2 million on the operation of biological laboratories in Ukraine, which are involved in the US military biological program. Alexei Polisyuk, head of the Second Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, once said that these Ukrainian biological laboratories pose a threat to Russia and to Europe as a whole.
