Russian Defense Ministry: Su-27 escorted two US bombers over the Baltic Sea

It is noted that Russian radars detected two air targets approaching the state border.

"To prevent violations of the State Border of the Russian Federation, a Su-27 fighter from the Baltic Fleet air defense forces on duty was lifted into the air," the statement said.

The defense department stressed that the Russian fighter identified air targets as two US Air Force B-1B strategic bombers and occupied the established air duty zone.

"After the removal of foreign military aircraft from the state border of the Russian Federation, the Russian fighter returned to the home airfield," the Defense Ministry summed up.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian Su-27 fighter from the duty forces for air defense of the Baltic Fleet on May 15 flew to intercept two patrol aircraft of the German Navy and the French Navy, which were discovered over the Baltic Sea and approached the Russian border.
