Beijing, 5 May (ZXS) -- Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong summoned Japanese Ambassador to China Hideo Tsutsuo on 21 May to lodge solemn representations on the hype of China-related issues at the G-21 Hiroshima Summit.

Sun Weidong pointed out that the G7 adheres to the concept of camp confrontation and the Cold War, and its actions run counter to the general trend of history, objective facts and international morality. As the rotating chair of the G7 this year, Japan has joined hands with relevant countries to smear and attack China in the series of activities and joint declarations of the G7 Hiroshima Summit, grossly interfered in China's internal affairs, violated the basic principles of international law and the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, and harmed China's sovereignty, security and development interests. China is strongly dissatisfied and resolutely opposed.

Sun Weidong stressed: Taiwan is China's Taiwan, and resolving the Taiwan issue is Chinese its own affair and should be decided by the Chinese. The Taiwan issue is the core of China's core interests, concerns the political foundation of Sino-Japanese relations, and is an insurmountable red line. No one should underestimate the strong determination, firm will and strong ability of the Chinese people to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Hong Kong-related, Xinjiang-related, and Tibet-related affairs are purely China's internal affairs, and no external forces will be allowed to make irresponsible remarks and arbitrarily interfere. China is a staunch defender and builder of the international maritime rule of law. At present, the situation in the East China Sea and the South China Sea is generally stable, and the malicious hype of the so-called "changing the status quo with strength" goes against the facts. China firmly pursues a mutually beneficial and win-win opening strategy, and the dirty water of "economic coercion" and "debt trap" cannot be poured on China. The United States is the initiator and the biggest risk of undermining the rules of the international order and disrupting the operation of the world economy. China has always firmly pursued a nuclear strategy of self-defence, abided by the policy of no first use of nuclear weapons and maintained its nuclear forces at the minimum level required for national security. China's position is upright and frank, and cannot be distorted or smeared.

Sun Weidong stressed that as a responsible major country, China firmly upholds the international system with the United Nations at its core, the international order based on international law and the basic norms governing international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. Gone are the days when certain Western countries wantonly interfered in other countries' internal affairs and manipulated global affairs. We urge the G7 members to adapt to the general trend of the open and inclusive era, stop engaging in closed and exclusive "small circles", stop curbing and suppressing other countries, and stop creating and provoking division and confrontation. The Japanese side should correct its understanding of China, grasp strategic autonomy, abide by the principles of the four political documents of China and Japan, and truly promote the stable development of bilateral relations with a constructive attitude.
