Lhasa, 5 May (ZXS) -- "Where did you come to pilgrimage to the Buddha? "We are from Shigatse, today is 'Saga Dawa', and a family of six has come." On May 21, while visiting Barkhor Street in Lhasa, Michael Crook, a British visitor, talked with Tibetan Buddhist believers he met at the prayer transfer path.

On that day, which coincided with the first day of the fourth month of the Tibetan calendar, Tibet ushered in the traditional Tibetan Buddhist religious activity "Saga Dawa", which is known as "Saga Dawa" and "Buddha Month", which is the special month of Buddha Shakyamuni's birth, Buddhahood and nirvana.

Ambassadors, ministers and Chinese and foreign guests from Nepal, Myanmar, the Philippines, Mozambique, Fiji, Venezuela, Indonesia, Bangladesh and other countries visited the Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple on the same day.

At Jokhang Temple, the monk in charge of the explanation, Tenzin, said that the main hall of the Jokhang Temple enshrines a 12-year-old statue of Shakyamuni brought into the snowy plateau by Princess Wencheng of the Tang Dynasty, and is now revered by various schools of Tibetan Buddhism. The guests learned about the Tibetan Buddhist tradition of "clockwise sutra transfer" and walked around the 12-year-old Buddha statue of Shakyamuni.

In Jokhang Square, guests also saw many believers kowtowing to the Buddha. Nyima, a believer from Batang, Sichuan, told the China News Agency that this year is his third visit to Lhasa to pilgrimage Buddha, "I came by car on the Sichuan-Tibet line, and this time I plan to return to Batang after the 'Saga Dawa' is over."

It is reported that Chinese and foreign guests arrived in Nyingchi, the "Snowy Jiangnan", on May 5, and the group visited the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, Menba ethnic village, the Southeast Tibet Cultural Heritage Museum and the No. 16 Primary School of Nyingchi City, and on May 5, they took the plateau Fuxing EMU to start their trip to Lhasa.

Venezuelan Ambassador to China Yovreda said in an interview with China News Agency that this trip was his first visit to Tibet, "In the past few days, we have visited some schools and museums, and seen the students' learning and inheritance of Tibetan culture." He said the Chinese government's protection of Tibetan traditional culture was impressive. (End)
