UK Trade Secretary Kimi Badinock is due to hold trade talks with ministers from the six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries this week.

The minister vowed to seize the opportunity of her visit to Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to get deals worth a trillion pounds.

Before travelling, Badinock said a deal with six Gulf countries could bring billions of pounds of investment to the UK.

Total trade between Britain and the Gulf states reached a record high, exceeding £61 billion in 2022.

Since leaving the European Union in 2016, London has been working to find new economic partners, with special priority given to the countries of this region, due to several factors, including the volume of Gulf investments in Britain, the growth in demand in these markets, and the high purchasing power of its citizens, which makes them among the most spending tourists in the United Kingdom.
