The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center said a magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck an area off the coast of Northern California on Sunday.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the epicenter was in the Pacific Ocean in northern California, and was at a depth of two kilometers.

According to the U.S. agency, the distance of the earthquake from land led to a lack of high score on the coast of California.

US media reported no injuries or damage immediately after the quake.

According to the seismological intensity scale, an earthquake is considered very strong if its intensity ranges between 6 and 7 degrees.
