"I will not allow them to make Kosovo independent. They will not conduct Serbia's foreign policy and decide for me to whom we will or will not impose sanctions. The people of Serbia will make the decision. They will not decide whether [we] will join NATO or not. The people will decide," TASS quoted him as saying.

According to Vučić, the population supports the military neutrality of the state and the decision to protect Serbia without the participation of outside forces.

Earlier, the European Parliament called on the EU to reconsider the amount of subsidies to Serbia because of Russia's support.

The European Parliament also called anti-Russian sanctions one of the conditions for Serbia's membership in the EU.

On April 6, Serbian leader Aleksandar Vučić said that he expects increased pressure on Serbia to impose anti-Russian sanctions.
