"VTB has recorded a new trend of fraudulent attacks: now attackers call potential victims via video link, posing as bank employees and imitating work in the office," RIA Novosti quoted the bank as saying.

According to the financial institution, fraudsters switch to video communication if a person does not believe that a bank employee is calling him. At the same time, the essence of fraud has not changed - attackers still offer to transfer money to a "safe account", update the banking application, apply for a loan, etc., in order to eventually gain access to the victim's personal account.

Earlier, lawyer Ivan Solovyov warned against calls from scammers from the code 977 to transfer funds to the account.

Honored Lawyer of Russia Ivan Solovyov said in an interview with RT that telephone scammers continue to improve methods of deception. According to him, the new scheme applies to residents of the Far East, Siberia, the Urals, the Volga region and remote regions of the north-west of the country.
