"It is high time for Washington to learn that not a single hostile attack against Russia will remain without a harsh reaction. The principle of inevitability of punishment will be consistently applied," the ministry said in a statement.

It is clarified that the measures will be applied regardless of the context of measures on the part of the United States in the form of sanctions pressure or discrimination to impede the professional activities of Russians.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also rejected the request of the American embassy for a consular visit to the arrested journalist of The Wall Street Journal Evan Gershkovich due to the non-issuance of visas to Russian journalists.
