Islamic Jihad on Friday held a rally in the Gaza Strip to commemorate its military commanders who were killed during the recent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Thousands of Palestinians participated in the festival, which was held in Al-Katiba Square in Gaza City, under the slogan "Revenge of the Free."

The festival witnessed a military parade by members of the Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad movement, during which weapons used in the last battle were displayed.

A spokesman for the joint room, which includes the military wings of the factions, most notably the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" and Jihad, said in a speech during the festival, "We warn the enemy of any assassination or foolishness, and we promised to respond with all force in the depth of the enemy," stressing "to fight aggression as the only way on the road to freedom of land and man."

Responding to assassinations

Islamic Jihad Secretary-General Ziad al-Nakhaleh said in a recorded speech at the rally, "We succeeded in the battle of revenge for the free people with the blessing of the blood of the martyrs and by preserving the unity of the Palestinian people."

He pointed out that any assassination "will be a strong, clear and painful response, and Tel Aviv and other cities of the Zionist entity will not be far from the range of our missiles and the bullets of our fighters."

Between May 9 and 13, Israel launched a military operation against Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip.

Over the five days, Israeli fighter jets carried out hundreds of raids on various areas of the Gaza Strip, killing 33 Palestinians, including 6 children and 3 women.

Last Sunday, the Al-Quds Brigades said that 11 of its commanders and members in the Gaza Strip were killed during the recent Israeli military escalation on the Gaza Strip.
