At the G7 Hiroshima Summit, President Zelensky of Ukraine is expected to visit Japan on the 20th and participate in the discussions on the 21st. As the Japan of the Presidency, I would like to convey our policy of continuing our assistance to Ukraine and confirm our unwavering solidarity with the G7.

At the G19 Hiroshima Summit, which opened on the 7th, as a result of discussions on the first day,
a statement on Ukraine clearly stating that Japan will aim to expand export restrictions as a measure to strengthen sanctions against Russia,
and a statement on nuclear disarmament calling for improved transparency of nuclear-weapon states.
They shared the view on the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and to promote the peaceful resolution of the issue.

Prime Minister Kishida told reporters on the evening of March 19, "As chairman, we led discussions on the world economy, Ukraine, the Indo-Pacific, diplomacy and security, including nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, and we were able to fully defend a free and open international order based on the rule of law."

On the second day of the Summit, on the 2th, an expanded meeting will be held with the leaders of eight invited countries, including India, which holds the G20 chair, to discuss global issues, including food and energy issues, and the focus will be on whether the G20 can demonstrate its commitment to emerging and developing countries called the "Global South" and strengthen cooperation.

President Zelensky indicated his intention to attend the Hiroshima Summit face-to-face from the Ukrainian side.

According to government officials, President Zelensky will visit Japan on June 8 to participate in discussions on the situation in Ukraine and other issues scheduled for June 7, as well as to hold a summit meeting with Prime Minister Kishida and visit the Atomic Bomb Museum.
