Chengdu, 5 May (ZXS) -- Eritrean President Isaias concluded his six-day visit to China and left China by plane from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport on 19 May.
It is understood that Isaias was invited to pay a state visit to China from May 5. After concluding their trip to Beijing, Isaias and his entourage arrived in Chengdu at noon on May 14, with Sichuan as the second leg of their visit to China.

During his stay in Sichuan, Isaias visited Sanxingdui Museum, Chengdu Fengke Biotechnology Co., Ltd., China Dongfang Electric Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Dongfang Electric), Dujiangyan Water Conservancy Project, Dujiangyan Base of China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center, and Shudao Investment Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Shudao Group).

On the afternoon of the 18th, during the inspection of Shudao Group, Isaias paid great attention to intelligent transportation, infrastructure engineering, innovative technology, etc., listened carefully to the explanation and nodded his head from time to time to express his affirmation. In fact, Sichuan Highway and Bridge Construction Group Co., Ltd., which belongs to Shudao Group, established an office in Eritrea in 1995 and has participated in many infrastructure projects such as the Gatlai Road Project, the Masawa Seawall, and the Asmara Eye Hospital. At present, Shudao Group is jointly investing with Eritrea in the construction of several mineral projects in the country.

China is Eritrea's largest trading partner and source of investment. On the evening of the 18th, Isaias said in an interview in Chengdu that he had witnessed China's rapid development during his trip and learned a lot of "Chinese experience" that Eritrea should learn from. It is hoped that the two countries can deepen practical cooperation in more than 10 fields such as new energy, agriculture and infrastructure construction.

In November 2021, China and Eritrea signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Jointly Promoting the Construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 11st Century Maritime Silk Road. Isaias said that the Belt and Road Initiative has benefited the jointly built country and played an important role in Eritrea's infrastructure construction and economic growth. "I hope that while Eritrea and China will cooperate for win-win results, the relationship between Eritrea and China can be raised to a higher level and expand cooperation to a broader field." (End)
