The boys in the village gather at the store to draw up the strategy.

"There's a lot of 'tricking' with this, the women go around in the afternoon to lay out false trails, but we try to keep track of the cars that go on the village on this day," says Daniel Fahlström. And this time he thinks he's pretty well in control.

Hiding together

Michael Hallquist talks about the rules:

"When it's leap years, it's us guys who hide, otherwise it's the ladies. They should hide "within four walls and ceilings" and everyone should hide in the same place, then we have two hours to search.

"When we knock on people's doors, we ask if they can 'secure the farm', if they say yes, we don't have to look there.

Several red herrings

The hiding place must not be completely blocked, but it is enough that, for example, a window is not studded. Therefore, this evening there are some doors and windows in the village that are not locked, it is a red herring for those who are looking.

When time starts to run out, Daniel Fahlström is not as sure anymore and when the clock strikes 21.00 he and the other boys are forced to give up ...

This year, too, it was the women who won Gymina in Valsjöbyn. Photo: Bengterik Busk/SVT
