"Based on last week's deviations and yesterday's deviation attempt, SiS and especially Nereby are in a very strained situation," writes department manager Catharina Högberg in an internal email, which SVT Nyheter Väst has taken note of.

Furthermore, she writes that an investigation will be made: "However, we cannot sit still and wait, but WE need to act now".

The email also states that on Monday there was another escape attempt: "I would also like to take this opportunity to praise all the quick employees who ran yesterday when young people absconded and managed to get them back."

Actions taken

The youth home cancels group activities, which are instead carried out individually or with a maximum of two young people, followed by two to three of the staff: "We will continue with these measures until the situation calms down," Högberg writes in the email.

The email urges staff not to worry about Nereby's future: "I am aware that there is concern and that there are rumours that Nereby will be closed".

Several escapes recently

In recent months, several young people have escaped from Sis homes. The last time was last week when two 14-year-old boys, suspected of shootings in Stockholm, escaped from the Sis home Nereby in Gothenburg. Sweden's Sis home has also gone into staff mode due to the escapes.

SVT Nyheter Väst sought the head of the department Catharina Högberg for a comment without success. Erik Bukowski at the press office at Sis announces that they are not able to give a comment but ask to return.
