It was P4 Jönköping that was the first to report that a man has been caring for patients as an ambulance nurse for several months, even though the man is only trained as an assistant nurse.

"We take what has happened very seriously. We will get to the bottom of this to find out what really happened, says Agneta Ståhl, who is the medical director for medical care.

According to her, the man has never been employed as a nurse. However, there are reports from colleagues who say that he has performed duties as a nurse when he worked on the ambulance.

"We trust what our colleagues say and we will find out if any patients have been exposed to any risk," she says.

The man has worked as a paramedic for several years, but at the beginning of the year the man submitted a certificate that he was a fully trained nurse, according to Agneta Ståhl. According to colleagues, the man should then have had to perform some tasks that a nurse is only allowed to do.

– We did a check via the National Board of Health and Welfare, which we do with all employees and received a response after three weeks that there was no certificate from the man. He was then confronted by his boss and then the man called in sick, she says.

– Unfortunately, it went a little fast and the man was able to perform tasks as a nurse before we got a response from the National Board of Health and Welfare, it should not happen again, she says.

Could this have damaged your reputation?

"It's never good that this kind of thing happens, but I don't think this has damaged our reputation," says Agneta Ståhl.
