On one occasion, 315 kilograms of cannabis were brought in. At one point 90 kilos. Then seven more occasions. There are large amounts of cannabis that three people from Gothenburg are suspected of having brought in and stored in the country. They have been charged with extremely serious narcotics offences and the trial will begin on Monday.

The now suspected drug gang in Fran came on the trail of the police via intercepted chats in the encrypted app Sky ECC.

Through a collaborative operation carried out by Belgium, France and the Netherlands, Swedish police received information that the app is used by people with links to Sweden.

– We have received the material from foreign police when we requested legal assistance, says prosecutor Linda Wiking.

Is the method banned in Sweden?

"Yes, without the help of foreign police, we would not have been able to do this. But there is a change in the law under way on secret coercive measures.

Lots of intercepted messages

Swedish police did not participate in the operation, as has been the case in the past, where it has been possible to uncover drug gangs using the encryption apps EncroChat and Anom.

In the present case, the police have gained access to a very large number of messages, recorded voice messages and images, which are used as evidence by the prosecutor to convict the three suspects of extremely serious drug offences.
