The mother has no criticism of the school's handling of the incident but otherwise believes that the school is a safe place.
"There are always people who can be nasty. But you hand over your children to school, which you expect to be a safe environment, so it's terrible when something like this happens in a school environment.
Crisis management work at the school
Lars Anders Johansson is press officer at Internationella Engelska Skolan. One of the school's former employees in Karlstad is suspected of serious child pornography offenses and, according to information provided to guardians, the man has surreptitiously filmed students.
"We are incredibly dismayed and shocked by what has come to light," he said.
He says that the school is now primarily working to support the students, their families and staff at the school and extra resources in the form of more counselors and crisis management specialists will be in place.
What control do you have when hiring new staff?
"We have strict procedures for background checks and those procedures should have been followed in this case as well. But obviously, unfortunately, this can happen despite all the routines.
Is there anything you could have done differently to prevent this?
– There will be a time for self-examination and evaluation, but right now we are in an acute crisis phase.
