On May 8, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that he did not see any benefit for the republic from joining Western sanctions against Russia.

On May 11, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, said that the West is exerting tremendous pressure, Russia will not leave the freezing of assets unanswered.
