France, Germany and Poland support and want to accelerate Ukraine's integration into Europe. They met this morning in western Poland for the summit of the Weimar Triangle, a cooperation group between these three countries, where the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister was present. The problem of Ukrainian cereals, which flood the Polish market, was inevitably mentioned.

This is the perfect materialization of the changes that could result from Ukraine's integration into the European Union. For now, Poland has unilaterally chosen to block Ukrainian imports. She wants to limit the impact on her own farmers who have been protesting since the beginning of the year.

A situation that Ukraine understands, for now. Ola Stefanichyna, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine: "It is hoped that there will soon be an advisory platform to monitor and control the situation. But no decision should be taken that could go in the direction of Russian propaganda."

But the problem could quickly come back on the table if Ukraine joins the European Union. Polish farmers will once again be faced with the arrival of Ukrainian goods, cheaper than their own. For Laurence Boone, Secretary of State for Europe, it is imperative that Europe changes. "We need to revisit the policies of the European Union to see how we make them work when we are 35. In the profits of the 35," she said.

A Europe that is certainly more political and military given the current context. And the problem of Ukrainian cereals in Poland clearly shows that if Warsaw pushes for its neighbour to become a member, it is not for the sole purpose of integrating it into the common internal market.
