• IU and Podemos appeal to the Electoral Board that RTVE give them only 1% of the blocks of their news for 28-M
  • The Electoral Board opens a second disciplinary file against Isabel Rodríguez for violating neutrality in Moncloa

Podemos and Izquierda Unida will only have 1% of space reserved in the information blocks of RTVE in the campaign for the regional and municipal elections on May 28. The Central Electoral Board (JEC) has rejected the appeals of these parties against the electoral coverage plan of public radio and television.

In a resolution that has only had one individual vote, the allegations of Podemos and IU against their exclusion from the distribution of free electoral ads on RTVE are also rejected.

In their appeal, Podemos and IU argued that it is evident that they were part of the same united political space and that their candidacies in 2019 covered more than 70% of the census.

But the JEC has not listened to their demands and maintains the RTVE plan, based on the votes of 2019, and which reserves 29.38% of the distribution of information times for the PSOE, 22.77% for the PP, 8.63% for Citizens or 3.63% for Vox.

As for the distribution of free electoral ads, RTVE has been based on the results of the last municipal elections and the requirement to have presented candidacy to constituencies that cover more than 50% of the population. A requirement that Podemos and IU allege that they meet together, but from which RTVE and the JEC exclude when considering them separately.

Thus, this distribution of electoral propaganda gives 45 minutes to PSOE and Partido Popular; 30 minutes to Ciudadanos and 15 minutes to Vox.
