Robin Cronström, has had housing support due to severe ADHD since 2019. Today he has two people who visit him on three occasions a week. He is worried about a change that the ruling politicians in Uddevalla announced in mid-April.

Major changes

M, KD, SD and the Uddevalla Party want to make a number of changes in the social administration. One of the proposals was that housing support for users with mental disabilities should be transferred from private to municipal management.

In addition to the municipality, there are currently three private actors who together provide housing support to 70 users. If the proposal is implemented, it would mean that everyone who has housing support in Uddevalla would receive help from municipal employees. In total, there are 170 people.

The proposal has been adopted by both the social welfare board and the municipal executive board. In all likelihood, it will be adopted by the City Council in connection with Wednesday's meeting.

Robin Cronström believes that he will not trust them enough to let them into the apartment and in the long run continue to get help.

"I have a lot of anxiety about this," he says.

"We are like a family"

Katrin Berntsson and Mikaela Lönngren are housing supporters at privately owned Tesia. Since becoming aware of the proposal, they have met with several political parties. They want to stop the change that they think could be harmful to users.

"For many people, we are like a family that they have had for many years, and it is being taken away from them now," says Katrin Berntsson.
