Skåne has relatively plenty of groundwater, but it is not an inexhaustible resource. Verena Danielsson, Water Administrator at the County Administrative Board of Skåne, believes that it is generally not possible to prioritize between different interests.
– The County Administrative Board's task is to safeguard the public interest – to ensure that there is drinking water, water for food production, that we have functioning industries and that we preserve the natural areas that need groundwater. But in the end, it is the court that decides whether there is room to take more groundwater in individual cases.
