The residents and merchants of the Plaza España and the area of the Royal Palace denounce that they have been suffering a month and a half the violence and fury of a neighbor of the one on Illustration Street, next to the Cuesta de San Vicente, who insults, assaults and threatens the people of the neighborhood. The 38-year-old also bulldozes cars, smashes containers, breaks glass and bathes in the fountains of the Sabatini Gardens outside the Royal Palace. He has been arrested by the National Police up to 15 times. The last, for threatening several pedestrians with a cutter and on another occasion for another aggression to a homeless man.

The neighbors assure that they can not take it anymore and ask that this man be treated in a specialized center of his alleged mental problems, since they fear that any misfortune may occur. The conflictive neighbor is called Quique and is 38 years old. He has always worked as a painter with his father. Those who know him best say that he has been unemployed for some time, very deranged and that he constantly suffers attacks of anger.

This man now lives alone in a flat on Enlightenment Street where he has broken windows, smashed pavement and sprayed foam from fire extinguishers on the doorway and street. The neighbors of the neighborhood add that it is necessary for someone to intervene in this case and ask for help from the institutions, since no one in his family takes care of him. "Acts of vandalism occur at any time of the day. It's very crazy. He goes out into the street half naked and with a stick and starts screaming and messing with people. He kicks in doors, breaks containers and threatens passers-by," says Juan, who owns a business in the area.

In the block where Quique lives, some neighbors have decided to move house for fear of what may happen to them. In addition, this man has been arrested for assaulting his former partner from whom he has a restraining order. The neighbors say that he has a child with his former partner and do not understand that with his problems he may have the right to be with the child.

Last Tuesday residents have explained that he was arrested again in the Cuesta de San Vicente for public disorder and that today Thursday morning he has returned to the neighborhood. "He has been released again. We have had two quiet days and he is already on the street. When he returns he is calmer because they must give him an injection or some treatment, but in two days it is unleashed and rolled again, "says Angel, another of the residents. "We ask that someone help us and that from some institution they are attended," emphasizes this neighbor.
