The head of state noted the statement of one of the women veterans invited to the tram launch ceremony, which drew a parallel with the return to peaceful life in besieged Leningrad. According to her, the sound of the tram is a symbol of the rebirth of life.
"It is no coincidence that you have now remembered this. The same thing is happening in the new subjects of the Federation ... In general, there are a lot of signs of the revival of life. In Mariupol, the sound of a tram is one of these visible and audible symbols of rebirth," Putin said.
He expressed confidence that transport in Mariupol will continue to develop.
On March 19, Putin made a working trip to Mariupol.
During the visit, he talked with local residents and inspected one of the apartments in the new building.
