"Our holding in Heimstaden Bostad is written down by 6 percent due to the external valuation that the company has carried out. The write-down is in line with our expectations given the macro situation and interest rate developments. At the same time, we are aware that this investment, which was made with the aim of being long-term, does not today look as positive as when it was made," writes Alecta's acting CEO Katarina Thorslund in an email to SVT News.

The pension company Alecta has previously lost a total of SEK 19.6 billion through investments in three ailing US banks.

Now both the head of equities and the CEO have had to leave their jobs after the losses, which in the long run risk affecting Swedish pension savers.

Alecta manages occupational pensions for approximately 2.6 million Swedes and the company is the first choice for privately employed salaried employees, which means that the occupational pension ends up with the company unless you make another active choice.
